For all the joy and tears life brings to women …Methodist Women’s Services is with you every step of the way. From FirstSteps, our comprehensive childbirth education program for expectant moms, to LifeSteps, a program designed specifically for women 40 and over. Methodist Women’s Services offers tools to help women maintain their good health and a place to turn when faced with health challenges.
In 2006, Methodist Women’s Services unveils a new logo to represent the different aspects of a woman’s life: knowledge, childbirth, heart care, fitness and awareness.
We understand that the needs of every woman are as unique as the woman herself. Whether she is pursuing fitness, embracing motherhood or battling illness, we are committed to serving the full spectrum of her life.
Education is the most important link to disease prevention. The more a woman knows about her body and her needs the better a woman can live her life. At www.SAHealth.com, women can use a variety of search engines to track down information on many health topics. We offer WomanPlus and 55PLUS, membership programs that give us the opportunity to communicate with you about the amazing programs we offer from line dancing and massage therapy to escorted trips and tours and seminars on topics ranging from breastfeeding multiples (twins, triplets, and more!) to preparing documents for advance directives and living wills.
For those in need of treatment, whether it’s an emergency room visit for stitches or for chest pain, Methodist puts an emphasis on making sure highly skilled nurses and doctors are ready with the latest technology to treat any health challenge you’re facing.
Methodist Women’s Services, through the new Metropolitan Methodist Women’s Pavilion and the Methodist Hospital Women’s Pavilion, deliver more than 10,000 babies a year, more than any other provider in South Texas and nearly half of all babies born in San Antonio. Clearly, women prefer Methodist over any other hospital in town when choosing which hospital they trust with life’s most precious moment: the birth of a child.
Besides excellent obstetrical services, Methodist Women’s Services offers:

Methodist Heart Services promotes heart disease awareness among women by sponsoring the Go Red for Women campaign
Methodist Heart Services is this year’s health care sponsor of the local American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. The Go Red for Women initiative takes heart-health education to the next level by broadening women’s awareness of their risk for heart disease and arming them with preventive strategies to reduce their risk.
Methodist’s partnership with the American Heart Association is long-standing, since heart disease is so prevalent in our community:
- Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in San Antonio.
- According to the 2004 Bexar County Statistical Health Report,
almost 2,000 women died from heart disease, while almost 200 died from
breast cancer.
- In Bexar County, 635 of the women who died suddenly from heart disease in 2004 displayed no previous symptoms.
- Heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined.
- For the past four years, diseases of the heart have been the No. 1 killer of all segments of the Bexar County population.
- Last year, women in Bexar County led men in the number of deaths by heart disease and stroke.
Awareness is the key to reducing these statistics. Every day Methodist Heart Services works to increase awareness through our dedicated heart Web site (www.SAHEART.net), health fairs, HeartCheck e-newsletters, educational materials, wellness programs, Cardiac Connections educational seminars and now through our efforts in the Go Red for Women campaign.
Methodist Heart Services is proud to sponsor the Go Red for Women campaign along with the American Heart Association, H-E-B and San Antonio Woman magazine. For more than 40 years, Methodist Healthcare has been the leader in the treatment of heart disease in the south Texas region. When it comes to matters of the heart, we offer top technology, staff and physician expertise, and quality patient care for the children and adults of San Antonio and south Texas.
4 ways you can join the Go Red campaign
- The red dress pin—get one, give one. The little red dress pin symbolizes support of the Go Red for Women movement. Women are urged to get two free red dress pins—one to wear and one to share with someone they care about. You can order your pins by calling 1-888-MY-HEART (1-888-694-3278).
- Wear red on February 3. National Wear Red Day is a simple, powerful way to raise awareness of heart disease and improve women’s heart health. It’s easy to participate. Everyone (men too) can support the fight against heart disease and stroke by wearing red on Wear Red Day.
- Educate yourself. Methodist Heart Services has a variety of resources for you to
fight this deadly disease. Just call (210) 575-0355 or toll-free at 1-800-333-7333 to order brochures, computer CDs, signs and symptoms magnets, HeartMatters® magazine, Go Red for Women brochures and more.
- Log on to www.SAHeart.net. You can find information on the Go Red for Women campaign, calculate your heart-health risk, find a cardiologist, research health terms, and read about heart disease and heart drugs. You can even sign up for our free
HeartCheck monthly e-newsletter.
